What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections known as Botox, Nuceiva, Dysport and Xeomin are muscle relaxing purified proteins. They all work to reduce the action of the muscles. When injected by one of our specialists, the relaxation of specific muscles causes a reduction in wrinkles and can give a gentle lift resulting in a smooth, refreshed, brighter version of you.
Botox and other anti-wrinkle injectables can be used as a preventive measure in your 20's and early 30's or a line reduction treatment for those 40 and up. Using the correct dosage for your face and muscle strength allows you to maintain your natural facial expressions. At Skin Worthy, we aim for a natural and refreshed look, so you can feel confident without looking “overdone”.
Your initial Botox or Nuceiva appointment will likely be quick and easy. Typically, the entire consultation and treatment process can be completed within 45 minutes or less. Here is a detailed list of what you can expect:

Our board certified specialists will take the necessary time to carefully understand and review your unique facial anatomy, while thoroughly discussing any treatments goals and concerns in order to reach your desired outcomes. You and the specialist will do a final review of what was discussed including dosage amount, followed by informed consent.

The specialist will then carefully identify the areas to be treated.

A mild cleanser/antiseptic will be applied to these areas.

If you are concerned about any pain or discomfort, please ask the specialist for a topical numbing cream to numb the targeted area(s). We do have Pro-Nox available to our patients for some treatments to help assist any anxiety around treatment. Pro-nox is a safe mixture of 50% Nitrous Oxide and 50% Oxygen, great for any painful aesthetic treatment.

The specialist will use an ultra-fine needle to inject the Botox or Nuceiva directly into the facial muscles. One to three injections may be needed to target that muscle.
Immediately after your treatment you will have some mild redness and mild swelling that can last for up to 30 minutes. The effects of Botox/Nuceiva will begin to show after about 3-4 days post treatment with maximum results falling around the 2 week mark.
What To Expect During Your Treatment
How Long Will It Last?
Most treatments will last for about 3-4months. After multiple treatments, the muscles start to become smaller. It's common for treatments to last longer, using less Neurotoxin on repeat treatments. We recommend re-treating every 3-3.5 months to maintain your beautiful results.
Prevention of wrinkles by starting Neurotoxin in your 20s and 30s will prevent hard fixed wrinkles from forming. Wrinkle prevention early will help the treatments last longer and need less Botox/Nuceiva in the years to come.
Are There Any Potential Harms To These Products?
Botox has been proven safe for the past 20 years. During the treatment you will feel small stings. Some redness to the injection sites is common and usually only lasts 20mins. Less commonly a small bruise or a mild headache may occur.
Meeting with a Registered Nurse or Physician with training in facial anatomy and cosmetic medicine minimizes the risks associated with neurotoxins.
