How Fat Cells Work
The number of fat cells is set during childhood and adolescence. That number varies little in adulthood. The number of fat cells is specific to you and varies from person to person. When you start to gain weight, those fat cells expand, which in turn causes your waistline (and hips, and double chin, and thighs) to expand. When you eat healthy and exercise regularly, those fat cells shrink to give a slimmer and trimmer shape. If you stop those healthy habits, they will expand again, adding unwanted bulges.
What is the Coolsculpting procedure like?
On the day of the treatment, your CoolSculpting™ technician will apply a clear gel pad to the treatment area. This creates a safe barrier between the cooling panel and your skin. Followed by that, specialized applicators will be attached to the areas of concern for localized treatment. Once treatment is initiated, you’ll feel a slight sucking sensation as the applicator adheres to your body. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb.
During the treatment you will be able to read, answer emails, or chat with a friend. After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction. That's it! Most patients experience little to no downtime after treatment.
Can You Treat Anywhere On The Body With CoolSculpting?
Most areas of the body below the face can be treated using Coolsculpting. It is important to come in for a full assessment and build an effective treatment plan that will reach your goals. Coolsculpting has 5 different applicators that can be used on most areas of the body to sculpt and treat the smallest and largest areas of concern.
When Will I See Results After Treatment?
Optimal results are generally seen between 2-6 months following treatment. We will help design a treatment that works best for you and provide you with a treatment time frame. In most cases we will need to perform more than one treatment to each area to see best results. We recommend waiting about 1 month between retreating to the same area. However, if you are treating multiple areas we can continue our treatment plan on alternate areas during this time.
Is CoolSculpting Right For Me?
Although most people are able to undergo a Coolsculpting procedure not every person would see best results from Coolsculpting.
