What’s the coolest part of Cool Sculpting? That it actually works.
In a word —Apoptosis. Defined as pre-programmed cellular death. It’s a natural physiological process that is strictly regulated in our bodies.
I know it is technical, but Coolsculpting works because we freeze just the fat cells which triggers a cascade of biochemical reactions. This doesn’t make the cells explode or shrink. It literally, makes the fat cells permanently die in the treated area. This is different than necrosis. Necrosis is an uncontrolled process that quickly causes the fat cells to rupture and is a scar tissue forming process. Using apoptosis as a mechanism to reduce fat is very gentle and is a slow process. As a result, you will forget that it is happening.
Where does all that Apoptotic fat go?
The Coolsculpting system has been designed to deliver controlled amounts of cooling to a targeted zone so that only your fat cells are destroyed leaving all other cells in the area unharmed since fat freezes at a higher temperature in comparison. Once the fat cells are damaged they become sitting waste and your body will then remove it via your lymphatic system over the coming weeks with full results seen in 3 months. Keep in mind Coolsculpting is not shrinking or redistributing your fat, its removing whole entire fat cells from your body and since we can't reproduce those lost cells, the result is permanent!
