What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a specific type of dermal filler, known as a biostimulator. Sculptra combats the natural aging process by regenerating collagen production leading to supple, smooth, and lifted skin. Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a Health Canada approved injectable that addresses the underlying cause of facial aging, not just the visual signs! This treatment targets stubborn smile lines, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, and facial volume loss, with results appearing gradually and lasting up to two years.

What is the difference between Sculptra and other dermal fillers?
The main difference between Sculptra and other dermal fillers is the production of collagen. Fillers do not illicit a natural response in your body to produce collagen, unlike Sculptra. Traditional fillers are made with hyaluronic acid and designed to attract water, and immediately visually improve volume, whereas Sculptra's results are gradual, subtle, sustainable and can last up to 24 months, depending on the number of treatments and each individual patient.
How Long is the Recovery Time?
As a non-surgical and non-invasive therapy, Sculptra often allow you to return to daily life right after treatment. There may be mild redness and swelling in the immediate area, you are able to continue on with your daily routine. Cold compresses are provided post treatment to aid in any swelling. Some patients continue to experience some minor swelling or up to 72 hours post treatment. While this is very common, if you have any concerns, you are always encouraged to contact the clinic.
Who is the Right Candidate for Sculptra?
Anyone with facial volume loss, who is looking for long-term, sustainable results that will help improve the overall quality of their skin. It is important to note that typically 2-3 treatments are needed. Recommended volume is on average 1ml per decade of life.
How Long Will My Results Last?
Results for Sculptra can last upward of 24 months. As always, every patient is unique and optimal results are generally seen in patients who receive a series of treatments - maximizing collagen stimulation.
Can You Use Sculptra in Combination Treatments?
One of our favourite ways to use Sculptra is by pairing it with another collagen stimulating powerhouse - Morpheus8 in our Skinergy Treatment - The Sculptor. The two treatments can be conveniently done in the same appointment, utilizing the numbing agent in Sculptra to help make your treatment more comfortable. Combination therapy enhances the results of both treatments, giving the patient the most optimal results of tighter skin, a more lifted appearance, and improved radiance.
